SPACE TO EVOLVE IN A NEW ERA OF COLLABORATION.

Welcome to our inaugural post. We’re sharing our vision for and approach to supporting more productive and inspired collaboration.

Creating meaningful collaboration and high-performing teams has never been an easy task. And the challenge has only become more complex with the rise of remote and hybrid work—despite the countless technological solutions now available.

Simply bringing everyone “back to the office” isn’t the solution—no matter how much “updating” has occurred. Why? Because employees are heading right back to the same siloed, pre-pandemic grind. Days laden with inefficient meetings, broken collaborative processes, and lack of inspiration. (Things that Cupcake Tuesdays and updated conference rooms alone can’t fix.)

No, remote work isn’t the cause of our workplace malaise. In fact, its benefits are well-documented, with employees often reporting higher levels of satisfaction and productivity. So, why would we go back to pre-pandemic office norms that we think will magically re-engage our cultures? It just doesn’t serve the best interests of companies, teams, or individuals in the long term. The challenge of “collective productivity” is way more nuanced than this one issue.

The path forward lies in tackling the real-life complexity of modern collaboration. That means considering more than just when and where people gather. Even when physical space for collaboration is available, many groups lack the technical prowess, interpersonal skills, and process acumen necessary to leave a work session feeling accomplished and energized. In-person gatherings are real opportunities for teams to work on their chemistry and collaborative skills, and address inhibitors to collective productivity—to tap into their most productive and creative selves.

Enter Lost Office Collaborative. We’re not co-working or a social club. We’re a "space-meets-support” concept meticulously engineered for the future of team dynamics, cohesion, and productivity. A place that integrates the room, resources, and experiences teams need to flourish.

Five elements are behind our approach:

  • Fusion of wellness, productivity, and aesthetic design: The science of physical space on well-being, productivity, and creativity is incredibly sound. We’ve engineered a boutique-like premium space, built on cognitive and sensory research.

  • Easier-to-use collaboration technology and tools: With the right tools, teams can accomplish anything. We’ve equipped our space with cutting-edge technology that facilitates seamless collaboration and ideation. And we’re designing more engaging tools for self-guided team discussions and workshops.

  • Support for well-designed conversations: Many teams don’t have the expertise or time they need to design highly productive gatherings. We offer experts trained in the art of conversation and experience design, who can help fine-tune or facilitate work sessions.

  • Coaching on modern collaborative skills: We have team and leadership coaches on staff that work with teams to identify their strengths and improvement areas in real-time, then help them build those skills.

  • Creating the chemistry for higher performance: Teams with high chemistry have high trust and engagement. We embed experiences that strengthen team dynamics and foster a shared sense of purpose, even among remote team members.

In the coming months, we’ll dive deeper into our philosophy—and the science—behind these elements. And we’ll post updates on our progress to opening the doors of Lost Office. In between now and then, send us a note. We’d love to hear what you love (and don’t) about your current team gatherings. Send us an e-mail at contact@lostoffice.co.
